Abstract: Why is IGPP an Institute? Who created it and why? Why is the Munk building where it is, and how did it come to have perpendicular hallways on different floors? This talk will offer an informal history of IGPP's early years (up to about 1970), starting with our roots in Bergen and Cambridge, and complete with missed opportunities, university politics, and archaic computer systems.
